When I left work today, I notice my co-worker’s car has a “Mystery Spot” bumper sticker on it. Mystery Spot is a popular tourist destination in San Francisco bay area. I see it on the freeway all the time as well.

Every visitor who visit Mystery Spot receive a bumper sticker as a souvenir. I am sure they plan to use this souvenir to ask their visitors to advertise for them…. for free (they wouldn’t tell you that, of course). It is a simple bumper sticker, just yellow background with black text.

Can you learn from this marketing idea? We see bumper sticker everywhere. If you can design a bumper sticker that is special enough and give it to your customers for free, they will put it on their cars and advertise for you. if you have a non profit organization, or your business help your community, you can use it as a tag line.

You see many parents put a “proud parents of an honor student”  type of bumper stickers on their cars. If your bumper sticker can boost their ego, or show them they belong to a club that they are proud of, they are more likely to put your bumper stickers on their car and help you grow your business.
