Below is the second part of the postcard marketing video. Whether you use Vista Print or not, you can use the same ideas.

Here are the summary of the 10 tips on successful post card advertising:

1. Choose the right list – pick your target market. If you have a wrong list who are not interested in your products, the campaign will be a waste of time. I recommend trying to match your products to very specific group of people. For instance, if you just open a vegetarian restaurant, try finding a list of people who subscribe to a vegetarian magazine within a certain number of miles in your neighborhood. Depending on your pricing, you can also narrow it down further to people who have salary above a certain level.

2. What is your Unique Selling Proposition – Why your customers should choose you instead of your competitors.

3. Make irresistible offer and make it noticeable – track the offer by adding a coupon code or tracking code.

4. Make it grab attention – use strong headline, easy to read, attention grabbing graphic.

5. Clear and concise message – postcards have limited space, so you can only include a couple most important benefits. Your purpose is to get people take your offer. Focus on one offer per postcard.

6. Lead with customer benefits – how you can solve your customers’ problem.

7. Call to action – tell your customers what they need to do and be specific. For instance, call 800-555-5555 by 9/30/08 to get 50% off.

8. Make it easier for customers to find you. Add your contact information next to call to action.

9. Send out your mailing repeatedly – if you are not a well known company, it takes 3 to 5 times to get noticed by your potential customers. Your audience need to be continuously reminded. They might not need your products or services the first time you reach them, but they might need your services later on.  Once your customers familiar with your name, they are more likely to call you. Think about those real estate agents postcards that you receive all the time (if you are a home owner). You might not want to sell your house now, but when you are ready to sell, you might start to interview that several real estate agents you are familiar with who have good reputation in your neighborhood. Getting yourself familiar by your potential audience is key.

10. Test and analyze your campaign results. Test different offers, headline, lists, postcard size, images on your postcards, the frequency of your mailing, etc.  Find the best combination to increase your conversion rate.
