When I was at the gym the other day, a dancing aerobic exercise video infomercial was on. This infomercial focused on abdominal workout from dancing…. no crunches, no boring exercise. The instructors showed you how to get great ab from dancing… a lot more fun than doing crunches.

One of the spokesperson was a judge in the popular reality show, “Dancing with the star”. Due to the popularity of the show, they take advantage of the trend to advertise their products. The dancers are perfect evidence that dancing can help you to get great ab and great body.

It is a lot easier to market something that is related to a popular TV show, or just something popular. It takes a lot less work to convince your potential customers that your products can benefit them.

In this case, the exercise video company takes advantage of the popularity of “Dancing with the stars” and promote their dancing fitness video.

If you run a gym, you can start a dancing aerobic class and promote it heavily. If you are a dancing instructor, you can take advantage of “Dancing with the star” to promote your service. You can help people to dance like the stars.

Another example is books and movies. A lot of movies are based on books. If you are a book seller and sells a book that a movie is based on, you can focus more on promoting that book when the movie is out. A lot people like to read the book before they watch the movie. People like to do google search for the book. If you use Adwords to advertise the book that you are selling, you are likely to get more sales. Pay attention to what popular talk show hosts recommend. We always see ads that say “As seen on Oprah” or other similar show.  These advertisers are taking advantage of the popularity of a certain product, even simply an ingredient inside a product that a popular host recommends.
